Home MenuRenovation of City Hall
Eau Claire City Hall is a combination of two historic buildings joined by an annex. The remodeling project to complete renovations included a three-year plan, and the award-winning project won the American Public Works Association (APWA) 2020 Small Cities/Rural Communities Project of the Year for Historical Restoration/Preservation.
Space Needs Assessment in 2017
The primary focus of the remodel was to provide a more efficient and functional building for the public that offered a more welcoming approach to conduct business. To achieve this, the City hired JLG Architects to conduct a space needs assessment of the building in 2017.

Construction & Temporary Move in 2018
Following the conclusion of the space needs assessment, construction plans for the remodel were able to be finalized. Market & Johnson was the general building contractor hired by the City to complete the renovation work to City Hall.
It was ultimately decided to relocate all employees within City Hall to a temporary location at 2020 Prairie Lane for the approximate time of one year during the renovations. Moving of employees began during the summer to the temporary space. By that fall, all employees had successfully been relocated, and the temporary City Hall building located on Prairie Lane was open to the public.
