Information 

• $95/hour with a 2 hour minimum 
• To schedule a tour before renting a chapel, contact the Sexton at (715) 839-5041. 
• Chapels will be opened/closed onsite by the Sexton.
• You may come in the day before the reservation (8:00am-4:00pm) to decorate (provided there is no conflict with another user.)
• Chapels should be cleaned and left the way they were found.
• Chapel reservations must be submitted in person or via phone.

Visitors:

1. The cemetery will be open to visitors at all times between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and one-half hour after the official sunset. Permission to enter the cemetery at any other time must be obtained from the cemetery manager or the police department.
2. Persons or picnic parties, with refreshments, will not be admitted, unless permitted by the cemetery manager.
3. Leashed dogs are allowed on paved or gravel surfaces in the cemeteries.  Dogs are not allowed on grass.
4. Firearms will not be allowed in the cemetery except in conjunction with military funerals. At all other times, firearms, bows and arrows, slingshots, and other like articles will not be allowed.
5. Visitors are required to use the walks and drives whenever possible, and shall not pick any flowers (either wild or cultivated), injure any shrub, tree, or plant, or mar or deface any monument, stone, or structure in the cemetery.
6. Vehicles traveling within the cemetery shall not exceed 5 miles per hour. For purposes of this ordinance, vehicles shall include cars, trucks, bicycles, and motorcycles. Vehicular travel within the cemeteries by visitors shall be limited to asphalt and gravel roadways.

The Community Services Department maintains and operates both Forest Hill and Lakeview Cemeteries.  Rules, regulations, and ordinances have been passed by the City Council of Eau Claire to insure proper maintenance and beauty, and to prevent abuse and destruction.

Cemetery Ordinances

View the descriptions in Ordinance 2.84

1. The cemetery will begin spring cleanup on March 15 and fall cleanup on October 15.
2. Water is supplied from May 1 to September 25 and may be prior to May 1 if weather permits.
3. Artificial or natural plants and/or flowers must be in an approved pot stand and pot.
   • The pot stand post shall not exceed 2 inches in diameter.
   • The length from the ground to the bottom of the pot stand plant holder must be 22 inches.
   • The pot stand plant holder may be between 10-14 inches in diameter. 
   • Pot stand posts/bases may be inserted into the ground.
4.  Artificial decorations are strictly prohibited.
   • Some examples of prohibited items:  plant hangers, solar lights, statues, bird feeders, toys, wind chimes, and decorative flags (except American Flags).
5. No tree or shrub planting without the permission of the Cemetery Manager.
6. Items may not be inserted into the ground (except pot stands as stated above).
7. Leashed dogs are allowed on paved or gravel surfaces in the cemeteries.  Dogs are not allowed on grass.
8. Please do not deposit soil, pots, or heavy objects into waste receptacles.
9. Report damage or vandalism to a cemetery maintenance worker or call 715-839-5041.
10. Pesticides are used periodically in this cemetery. If you have questions, please call the Cemetery Manager at 715-839-5039.  

Special Rules

Forest Hill Cemetery:  Monumentation 

1. Flush headstones are specified in Section O.
   • Contact Sexton for lot locations. 
   • No minimum lot purchase is required.
2. Slant (no base), Bevel or Flush headstones are specified in Section O.
   • Contact Sexton for lot locations.
   • No minimum lot purchase is required.
3. Monuments are specified in Section O.
   • Monument size restrictions exist, please contact Sexton for further information.
   • Monument lots with footstones will be sold in multiples of 2 only. All other lots have no minimum lot purchase requirement.
4. Family Mausoleums are specified in Section O. 
   • Family Mausoleum lots include:  Lots 316-321, 322-327 and 338-343.

Lakeview Cemetery:  Monumentation

1. All headstones including monuments are specified in Sections J & K.
2. All headstones including monuments and family mausoleums are specified in Section L. 
   • Contact Sexton for lot locations.
   • Headstone size restrictions exist.
3. Lots where monuments are allowed will be sold in multiples of 2 only.

The City reserves the right to amend or change any of these rules, regulations or ordinances to conform with newly developed cemetery practices.
