The City of Eau Claire is a "one-call" community, which means by calling a single number, all of the utility companies will come to the site and mark their underground facilities. To help identify the specific utility and prevent damage to underground lines, the following uniform color code system has been adopted:

	Red	Electric
	Orange	Communication, cable, TV, alarm or signal
	Blue	Water, irrigation and slurry
	Yellow	Gas, oil, petroleum, or gaseous materials
	Green	Sewer and drain
	Pink	Temporary Survey Markings
	White	Proposed excavation
(Colored lettering or stripe corresponds to the planned utility)

Anyone planning excavation or construction activities of any kind is required by State law to contact Digger’s Hotline at 1-800-242-8511, to request that the underground utilities be located at least three days before any digging begins.
