There may be harmful algae present at the beach. Conditions can change quickly. Don’t swim, touch or swallow the water near the algae. Also avoid boating and fishing near the area.
We are continuing to monitor the algae blooms.

🟡Lake Altoona beach has changed to a water quality advisory, as algae toxins levels have lowered from very high to moderate. We still recommend that people and pets stay out of the water- do not swim, boat, touch, or swallow water near an algae bloom.

We need your help to find a dog that bit a woman on Friday, June 16 at around 7 p.m. The bite occurred in the Walmart parking lot in Eau Claire. The dog was described to be a brown pit bull type breed. The dog was in the back seat of a car with the window rolled down.

A harmful algae bloom has been noted at Lake Altoona Beach. It can be especially harmful to children and pets! Don’t swim in, touch, or swallow the water near the algae.

In a new approach to distribute life-saving harm reduction tools, the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office and the Eau Claire City-County Health Department have partnered to install a vending machine in Eau Claire that will dispense Narcan and fentanyl test strips to community members for free.

We need your help to find a dog🐕 that bit a woman on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023, at approximately 9:00 p.m. The bite occurred on the 3500 block of Seymour Road, north of the Bluff Crest Mobile Home Court. The dog was described as a medium sized dog, stocky build, and black or dark brown in color.

On Monday, May 22, the Health Department will kick off its yearly beach monitoring program, which starts in late May and ends around Labor Day.
