The Grand Avenue Footbridge concrete deck and railing replacement project began in April 2018. The bridge was closed while improvements were underway on this award-winning project. The bridge re-opened in August 2018 just in time for the 5th Annual Grand Evening on the Bridge. The Grand Evening on the Bridge is an annual downtown event hosted by DECI (Downtown Eau Claire, Inc.)
