Construction took place in 2017.

Construction began in April 2017 on the Short Street reconstruction project, which stretched from State Highway 37 to Ferry Street. Prior to the start of construction, an Open House had been held in December 2015 to hear the public's suggestions, comments & concerns.

What did the project consist of?

The project consisted of replacing the deteriorated concrete pavement with new asphaltic pavement, curb & gutter and on-street bike lanes. In addition, a widened sidewalk was created along the south side of the road connecting the state bike trail with the Short Street Bridge over the Chippewa River.

The project required the closing of Short Street to traffic, and signed detours were put in place for the duration of the project.

Short Street was re-opened to traffic in June 2017 when the project wrapped up.
