Completed in Fall 2020
The Grand Avenue Plaza is the green space connecting the past two reconstruction projects of West Grand Avenue in 2019 and the Grand Avenue Pedestrian Bridge in 2018. The plaza project wrapped up in October 2020 and consisted of construction work to improve the west end of the bridge. This space is in a special location that will evolve and become a place for people to gather and take in the scenery.
Features Dedicated to Brian Amundson
The Grand Avenue Plaza will include features dedicated to a previous public servant and Engineer, Brian Amundson. Its location lies across the river and south of the area in downtown where Brian was instrumental in breathing life - Phoenix Park, the Farmer's Market, and preliminary concepts of the Confluence Project. It also lies adjacent to one of Brian's first efforts in reclaiming the riverfront downtown - the First Avenue trail. Installation of the features dedicated to Brian will occur in the future and will be located along the water frontage of the plaza for all to enjoy.
