If you love them....license them!
Having your pet licensed :
- Can help reunite lost pets quicker.
- Helps you establish ownership if your pet is lost or stolen.
- Helps quickly establish vaccination status in the event of a dog or cat bite, potentially sparing the bite victim a series of painful and expensive rabies shots.
- Helps keep track of the number of pets in a home. Regulating the number in a home can help minimize nuisances to neighbors.
Required by City Ordinance:
No person shall own, harbor, or keep any dog or cat over the age of five months within City limits without first obtaining a license. The license year runs from January 1 to December 31. Animal license renewals are due by January 1 each year. Licenses are not transferable or refundable. A late fee of $10.00 is collectable from owners who fail to apply within 30 days of acquiring a licensable pet, fail to apply by the date the pet reaches five months old, or fail to renew by March 31. The license fee for a pet born after February 1 of the current license year is one-half of the fee.
