October 16, 1999

Dear Neighbor,

I would like to invite you to an organizational meeting for a Putnam Heights Neighborhood Association at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 4, 1999, at Manz Elementary School, 1000 East Fillmore. The purpose of this meeting is to learn more about the structure of neighborhood associations and to consider taking the first steps to establish one for our area.

A neighborhood association is strictly voluntary. It is designed to create a forum for residents to foster a sense of community in the area where they live; to communicate more effectively the needs of our neighborhood to city officials; and to encourage residents to work together to keep our neighborhood an attractive and safe place to live.

A Putnam Heights Neighborhood Association would include everyone who lives within the area bounded on the south by Hamilton, on the west by State Street,, the north by Clairemont, and the east by Rudolph. Any resident or property owner would be eligible to participate and have a voice in addressing issues that directly affect them.

I hope you will come to meet your neighbors and to learn how, by working together, we can ensure that Putnam Heights is a neighborhood that is clean, safe, friendly, and a place where all of us want to live. Please mark October 16 on your calendar and plan to attend.

If you have any questions regarding this meeting, please call me at xxx-xxxx or Pat Ivory at the City Planning Office at 839-4914.

Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you at the meeting.

Cordially,
