ECPD Notable Case Log 9/17 - 9/20
From 09-17-2024, 7:00AM, to 09-20-2024, 7:00AM, the ECPD responded to 215 calls for service. The calls per district are as follows: North District – 61, West District – 68, South District – 86.
September 17th, 2024
North District
Bond Violation - Officers observed two people along the riverbank drinking whiskey. One of them had bond conditions not to consume alcohol. They were arrested for four counts of Bail Jumping. The other person was advised to move along.
South District
Warrant Pick Up - Officers contacted a driver in reference to a traffic complaint and arrested them on a DOC warrant.
September 18th, 2024
North District
Warrant Pick Up - Officers were detailed to the area of a city park and baseball field to look for a person who had a valid DOC warrant. The person was located and taken into custody without incident.
Found Property - A fisher called in a found property case involving a firearm. Officers took custody of a 19th century revolver. No serial numbers were found on the gun and the owner is unknown at this time.
Warrant - Officers conducted a walk through at a city park and contacted a person who was found to have a valid Winnebago County Warrant for their arrest. They were taken into custody without incident and brought to the ECCJ.
South District
Domestic - Officers were detailed to a domestic disturbance at a residence. One family member called to report that two others were fighting. The predominant aggressor was arrested for Battery and DC, and taken to the jail. At jail, they PBT tested .457 and had to be medically cleared.
Domestic – A caller reported that their spouse was upset and throwing things around the house. Officers arrived and found that the pair had been arguing over infidelities. At one point, one of them had thrown a coffee mug and had flung soda all over the walls and onto the other person. The now soda covered person then threw the other person’s phone across the house. Both parties were disorderly, however, evidence on scene suggested the mug/soda thrower was the one that needed to go to jail.
September 19th, 2024
North District
Warrant Pick Up – Officers on patrol observed a person who they were aware had a warrant. When contacted, the person admitted they had marijuana on their person, and a small bag with 3.36 grams of marijuana were located. They were arrested for the warrant and Possession of Marijuana.
Theft – Staff at a bar/restaurant reported an employee theft that had occurred over a period of several weeks at their establishment. The total loss was $2,105. Some of the cash stolen had been captured on video surveillance. Officers followed up with the employee later in the day. They denied the theft, claiming they wouldn’t do this, since they’d been fired from their last job due to money going missing. They were arrested for felony Theft, four counts of felony Bail Jumping, and three counts of misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
West District
Theft - Officers responded to a convenience store reference a report of a person who had passed a counterfeit $20 bill. Staff provided a description of the vehicle, which had left prior to officer arrival. Officers located the vehicle in a nearby parking lot. Two people were located inside the vehicle. While speaking with them, drug paraphernalia was observed in plain sight. One of them admitted to being at the convenience store. They were arrested for Passing a Counterfeit Bill, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Methamphetamine and Bail Jumping. The other was taken into custody for a warrant.
South District
Warrant Pick Up – Officers had checked a residence for a person who had a warrant. Their family allowed officers to look for the person, but they were not home. Family agreed to call officers when the person returned. A short time later, officers received a text stating the person was now home and staying in a shed on the property. Officers went back to the residence and the wanted person was taken into custody without issue.
Crash - Officers responded to a crash involving a car vs a motorcycle. Officers arrived and found two people injured that were on the motorcycle. Witnesses said the motorcycle was doing wheelies and driving at a high rate of speed. The car and motorcycle collided while merging. The driver of the motorcycle was cited for Reckless Driving, Unreasonable and Imprudent Speed and Exhibition Driving. Both occupants of the motorcycle were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Warrant Pick Up – Officers responded to the probation office as an agent had issued a warrant for a client. They were taken into custody without incident.
Bond Violation – Officers checked a park pavilion and observed two people sitting together. It was known that one of the people had bond conditions not to have contact with the other. They were ordered in for two counts of misdemeanor Bail Jumping and left the area.
September 20th, 2024
North District
Warrant Pick Up – Officers were on patrol and observed a person who had an Eau Claire County warrant. They were arrested without incident.
BOLO Follow Up – Officers followed up with a person who had a BOLO charge from a domestic incident on September 13th. The person was arrested for domestic related Battery and Disorderly Conduct.
South District
Assault –Officers responded to a report of two people yelling at each other with one person saying something about stabbing the other person. The two were last observed walking towards a park. Officers contacted two people there. One person had a deep laceration to their top lip that would require stitches. The pair indicated they’d been walking from one downtown park to another park when a person approached them and punched the injured person in the face multiple times. The suspect was later located by officers. They were arrested for Substantial Battery, Disorderly Conduct, and two counts of felony Bail Jumping.
