Please join the City of Eau Claire in recognizing Transit Equity Day on Monday, February 5, 2024. Transit Equity Day is a national day of action held each year in honor of Rosa Parks’s birthday (February 4) to elevate the message that public transit should be safe, sustainable, and equitable for all people and communities.
On Monday, February 5, 2024 at 12 p.m, a ceremony will be held at the temporary Transfer Center downtown. City, County, and State proclamations recognizing Transit Equity Day will be read, and the event will feature brief speeches from staff and community members. Members of the public are invited to attend and show their support for equitable Public Transit.
Also on Monday, to recognize Transit Equity Day, a seat on each Eau Claire Transit bus will be marked in Rosa Parks’ honor acknowledging her work and detailing the efforts of Eau Claire Transit and the City of Eau Claire to make public transit accessible and affordable to all. Initiatives taken by Eau Claire Transit to ensure equitable access to transportation include Designated Trip Passes for unhoused people in our community, Income-Qualifying and Reduced Fare cards and buses that kneel at the curb making them easier to board by those using mobility devices.
