Juvenile Fire Setter

Print
The Eau Claire Fire Department established a Juvenile Fire Setter Program in 1995 to meet the increasing problem of children playing with fire. Adults must be constantly aware of signs of children playing with fire.  Past experience shows that early intervention can prevent a more serious future fire play situation. Trained members of the department will meet with the child and parents to gather information on the fire play behavior. This information will enable them to determine if the fire setting was a simple fire play or more indicative of serious fire setting behavior. The department's goal is simply to educate your family on fire safety. We are here to help and perhaps aid in avoiding a child's fire tragedy.

If you have found evidence that your child has been playing with fire or displays a high interest in fire, do not delay in contacting the Eau Claire Fire Department Prevention division at (715) 839-4825 for guidance.
